Taps From Scratch in Orlando

We want to thank David from Taps From Scratch for having us down to his warehouse yesterday for some fresh local beers and good conversation.  Taps From Scratch is a local company that rents and sells "Pub Hubs".

We think there are a couple of very cool things about Taps From Scratch.  First, the fact that they cater to individuals who drink "good" beer.  A  "Pub Hub" is definitely not a kegerator.  It can hold 2 to 4 slim kegs of quality beer and also store frozen glasses, botlled beer, soda, ice, liquor, etc.

Second, is the fact that the company is promoting the idea that it is much more cost effective to drink beer by the keg as opposed to the bottle or can.   Depending on what you are drinking, beer by the keg can cost about half of the price as it would by the bottle or can!

Taps From Scratch is a pretty cool concept that we can't say that we have seen before.  Keep them in mind the next time you are having a party in Orlando or looking to save some money on beer.

We decided to use taps from scratch for our backyard wedding and were less than pleased. We had the delivery date scheduled for one day but as we got closer to the event date, still a few months out, we called to see if we could get it a day prior to use for the rehearsal dinner. We were told this wouldn't be an issue, paid in full and the day of the rehearsal it didn't show and we were unable to reach them. Later that evening we finally got ahold of them and they told us that it wasn't going to be there till the following day. When I talked to the owner he told me that he relies on emails so he can't be held responsible for not remembering a phone conversation months ago and that it was our fault for not submitting a new order, even though we talked to him over the phone. The day of the event it finally arrived a few hours before the ceremony, showed someone how to operate it and assured us that it would settle before it was needed. That was not the case. Once we tried to use it there was half head, half beer at best with one of the lines having no pressure at all and when someone tried to contact the number that was written on the side of the refrigerator it was out of service. Again when I brought this up to him he said that someone had the correct number for him and if there was an issue they could have reached him. I tried explaining that during a wedding, it sometimes gets chaotic and hired help shouldn't have to troubleshoot a problem with a product that shouldn't need it and that there were more important things going on. He then said that regardless he could have walked them through the issue and at some point there were was going to need to be someone to adjust throughout the day to make sure his product worked effectively. If I would have known this I would have not purchased this product. Especially when on there home page they state:"Catering companies focus on food, wedding planners focus on brides and let Taps From Scratch focus on providing ice cold draft beer for your next event!" and "We don't just deliver kegs and keg rentals in Orlando we provide a service that allows you to focus on your event while we provide the draft beer." After going around in circles he was very unprofessional, laughing over the phone, telling me that our wedding planner sucked, and even going as far as calling my guests spoiled beer drinkers because they didn't want to drink head with there beer. A few of my groomsmen left and made a beer run so we would have a better beer selection for our event. Bottom line after talking with him and letting him know i was not satisfied with the service and asking if he would work with us he refused to take any responsibility for anything and refused to offer any kind of refund.
