Wrecker's Sportsbar at Gaylord Palms

by Orlando Beer Guide
4/22/2012

We recently heard from several different people that Wrecker's sportsbar in the Gaylord Palms hotel is now the "Best Sportsbar in Orlando"!  Quite a bold statement considering there are probably over one hundred sports themed restaurants in Orlando. We decided to have dinner there last evening and it definitely lived up to the hype.

So what sets this place apart from the 100 other sportsbars in Orlando?  Most notably, they have the most ginormous television setup I have ever witnessed outside of Las Vegas.  A very friendly host at the door told us that Wrecker's is the largest sportbar in the United States east of the Mississippi.  It didn't take too long for me to begin fantasizing about watching my Steelers play on those massive screens!

The food here is good.  Its a fairly typical bar menu and a little on the pricey side but we left happy and definitely felt like we got our money's worth.  They do validate parking here if you spend $25 or more so make sure you take your ticket in!  I enjoyed a nice order of  plump wings and Mrs. Orlandobeerguide had a smoked salmon salad that was also very good. This is definitely not a craft beer bar.  Though I was pleased to see Jai
Alai and Maduro available from Cigar City along with a few other offerings from some of the larger Regional craft breweries.

We don't typically write about places like Wreckers but after spending an evening at the Key West themed sportsbar I felt obligated.  It is definitely a one of a kind establishment and its clear that a lot of time and money went into putting the place together.

With so many places to choose from in Orlando new restauarants and bars need to contain some element that sets them apart from the rest.  Wreckers does just that.  Check them out next time you are looking for something different when you're heading out to watch a game and let us know what you think.

REVIEWS FOR WRECKER'S SPORTS BAR

"WOW... that about sums up our experiance at Wreckers. The place is
amazing. The services was top notch, and the food was is a class by it self. I
can't wait to go back."

"What a great place to go after a long day at work. Great food & very
friendly people, even the chef (Paul) comes out to visit people in the dining
room.  My coworkers & I love the big screen TV. This is our new sport bar to
go to."  Roberta
