Beer enthusiasts and Simpson's fans no longer have to wonder what Homer's favorite beer might taste like. The Simpson's Fast Food Blvd portion of the Springfield attraction at Universal Orlando opened on Saturday June 1st.  Universal's Springfield features a replica of Homer's favorite hangout and will soon be opening an outdoor beer garden as well. Both Moe's Tavern and Duff Gardens will feature 3 real life versions of Duff Beer that is being brewed by Florida Beer Co in Melbourne. The three locally brewed beers will consist of Duff Beer, Duff Dry, and Duff Lite.  Florida Beer Company's portfolio of beers currently consists of respectable craft brews like Swamp Ape Double IPA and Gaspar's Porter as well as more sessionable beers like Key West Sunset Ale and Florida Lager. We are hoping to visit Universal this week sometime to get some pictures and try the beer. In the meantime, here is a video and some excerpts from the official press release.  ORLANDO, Fla.- Woo Hoo! Springfield, hometown to America’s favorite animated family, The Simpsons, comes to life at Universal Orlando Resort this summer. For the first time ever – anywhere – fans will be able to walk down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places that helped Springfield stake its claim as “Shelbyville by the Sea.” They will be able to grab a Krusty-certified meat sandwich at Krusty Burger, snatch the catch of the day at the Frying Dutchman, get a slice at Luigi’s Pizza, go nuts for donuts at Lard Lad, enjoy a “Taco Fresho” with Bumblebee Man and imbibe at Moe’s Tavern. “This will be a must-see experience for Simpsons fans all over the world,” said Mark Woodbury, President of Universal Creative. “For the first time ever, they’re going to be able to enter a world that they’ve only seen on television – and we’re really excited to bring that world to life.”

The public relations folks at Sea World Orlando have been nice enough to share with us the names of the beers they will be serving at this year's Band's, Brew's, and BBQ. This year's festivities will run on Saturdays and Sundays from February 9th to March 17th. Hall and Oates fans who enjoy good beer will be beside themselves when they get a look at this year's lineup of both bands and beers!  Local folks familiar with Orlando's craft beer scene will likely note that pretty much all of the beers on this list are distributed by Orlando's City Beverage. Orlando Beer Guide friend Gerard Walen pointed out a similar occurance a couple weeks back in his blog discussing the beers being served at the same event that will take place at Tampa's Busch Gardens. You can check out the Sea World website for additional details on the list of bands who will be performing as well as the different packages available to get some food and drink some beers!
