While we patiently wait for more breweries to open here in Orlando, we wanted to share some pictures and thoughts from a recent trip to St Pete. If you love beer and live in Orlando, St Pete makes for a fantastic weekend beer trip. There are plenty of affordable hotels downtown and many of the breweries are within walking distance of each other and those that aren't are only a short cab ride away. First stop was at the Cigar City Brewpub for a little lunch that would serve as a necessary foundation for what would undoubtedly become a very long day. I had the fish tacos and a glass of La Rubia. I was excited to pick up a bottle of Alexander the Grapes and Brewer's Brunch stout to bring to future bottle shares. After having a little lunch at Cigar City's Brewpub, we made it to Rapp Brewing right around the time they opened. Rapp is one of my favorite breweries in the state of Florida! The only problem here was that there were too many good beers to choose from with 20 different selections on tap. Pictured above is a glass of chocolate hazelnut porter. Delicious! I have never been to a brewery quite like Three Daughters. By far the most family friendly brewery I have ever visited. Ping pong, Giant Jenga, and even a full on 18 hole miniature golf course were the highlights here for me. They are famous for their Beach Blonde Ale here so I figured I'd better order one. We were excited to go to Green Bench Brewing because we had heard so much about its awesome beer garden area. Unfortunately, it was raining during our visit and we were not able to sit outside. Lucky for us, Green Bench was releasing a Double Rice IPA on this particular evening (pictured below). Stopped in for a beer at St Pete Brewing and then to Cycle Brewing to finish up the night. As you can see, things were a little fuzzy by the end of the evening... If you'd like to plan your own "beer day" in Pinellas County check out the St Pete / Clearwater Craft beer trail for some additional information and ideas. Cheers!
