News spread quickly through circles of social media earlier tonight about president Barack Obama stopping for a beer at a local sportsbar in Dr. Phillips, Florida. The president decided to make an unscheduled stop at Gator's Dockside and chatted with a group of patrons who were enjoying a Saturday night out with their families.
So what did he order? Orlando Beer Guide placed a call to Gator's Dockside in Dr. Phillips this evening and spoke to the young lady who waited on the president and brought him his beer. "He asked me what we had on draft and I said Bud Light. And he said ...O.K. I'll take one of those. " said Jackie from the Gator's Dockside's Dr. Phillips location.
Sadly, this isn't much of a surprise I suppose. Though owned by massive Belgian beer company InBev, Anheuser Busch currently boasts that it is America's leading brewer and holds a 47.7% share of beer sales to U.S retailers. According to www.brewersassociation.org the craft brewing sales share in 2011 was 5.7% by volume and 9.1% by dollars. Still only a drop in the bucket of all the beer that is made and sold in this beer drinking country of ours.
Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this... Last week, we heard about the president's secret homebrew recipes that were relased by presidential chef Sam Cass that included fresh honey collected from bee hives located on the southlawn of the whitehouse. Tonight, we hear of the world's most powerful man ordering a Budlight from Gator's.
In the thirsty president's defense, Gator's has no local beers on tap and only a
couple craft brews. Either way, it must have been a pretty cool night for those folks hanging out at Gator's when the leader of the free world walked through the front door and proceeded to order a beer! Tell us what you think.
