Ale to the Chief! Four more beers! There has been a huge buzz the last month or so surrounding President Obama and the homebrewing kit that he purchased last year. Yesterday, the White House released a brewing video and two of the recipes used to make the first series of brews that are known to have been brewed on White House property. White House chef Sam Cass appears in the video and gives some insight into the executive brewing process. “Brewing beer is becoming a thing that Americans are doing in their homes and garages across the country,” Kass said. “The president certainly thought it would be a good idea to see if we could join in that time-honored tradition and brew some of our own beer.” Kass went on to say "As far as we know the White House Honey Brown Ale is the first alcohol brewed or distilled on the White House grounds. George Washington brewed beer and distilled whiskey at Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson made wine but there's no evidence that any beer has been brewed in the White House."
