Oktoberfest Events in Orlando and Central Florida 2012
Oktoberfest 2012 is quickly approaching and Orlando Beer Guide has it covered in Central Florida! The history of Oktoberfest dates back to 1810 when the first celebration took place in Germany as a celebration of the marriage of Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Bavaria. The original event was then repeated, eventually lenghtened, and ultimately became one of the world's largest and most celebrated festivals.
Today, Oktoberfest is a 16 day festival that begins in the end of September and ends on the first weekend in October. It is estimated that almost 7 million people attended last year's Oktoberfest in Munich and that almost 2 million gallons of beer were consumed during the 14 day festival! Oktoberfest 2012 kicks off on September 22 at the Orlando Brewery and about a dozen other events run through the end of October. Prost! |
